What is stroke?

A stroke happens when a blood vessel (supplying the blood and oxygen) is severely restricted or bursts - causing the damage to the brain and bodily functions controlled by that portion of the brain.

Stroke is one of the leading killer in the U.S.:

750,000+ victims
160,000 deaths (3rd leading cause of death)
266,000 survivors with permanent disabilities
50% of the nursing home patients are stroke victims

Symptoms of Stroke?

Numbness, weakness, or paralysis of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body.
Trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
Double vision, or things may look dim or blurry.
Confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.
Feeling unsteady, dizzy, or clumsy and not able to walk.
Severe headache.

What casuses the stroke?

There are many factors, but Carotid artery disease is the leading cause of strokes. Majority of the stroke victims (50%+) present no warning signs. As you age the risk of stroke increases significantly after 55.
